Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor speaking, consultant writer, syndicated columnist, author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she started. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran has been a part of 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. As of February 2020, she has made 53 deals for the show, with the biggest being a $350,000 investment to purchase 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the youngest of 10 children in a middle class Irish-Catholic family. Florence Corcoran's mother was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father through Corcoran’s childhood. Her family sometimes relied on free food delivery from a local grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father as a man who sometimes consumed too much alcohol and was rude to her mother and contempt, particularly after he'd consumed alcohol. Corcoran struggled in school, and eventually discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran started high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year and transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
